1 Female 1 Sanitary Pad

On 28 May 2025, the world observed World Menstrual Hygiene Day. As part of this global occasion, Addie’s Foundation marked the day with a meaningful intervention across four regions in Ghana: Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, and Central. It was the day the Foundation carried out the 1 Female 1 Sanitary Pad project.

This annual initiative is designed to improve menstrual hygiene and empower young girls in underprivileged communities and schools. The project reflects Addie’s commitment to social impact through education, access, and advocacy.

The initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, particularly Goal 3 on good health and well-being, Goal 4 on quality education, and Goal 5 on gender equality.

As part of the project, a detailed menstrual hygiene talk was delivered in each of the four selected regions. These sessions created safe spaces where girls could learn, ask questions, and have their concerns addressed openly and respectfully.

To commemorate the occasion, the team donated 16 boxes of sanitary pads to be distributed across the four regions. Each pad represented more than a basic necessity. It was a message of care, dignity, and inclusion.

The 1 Female 1 Sanitary Pad project is not just an event. It is a growing movement. It is an annual reminder that menstrual health is essential to a girl’s right to education, health, and self-respect. With every girl we reach, we move one step closer to a future where menstruation is never a barrier to opportunity.
